
Julie Gardella, M.S.
Associate Health Scientist
Julie Gardella is a toxicologist and environmental health scientist with over 7 years of multi-disciplinary experience in research, writing, data analysis and visualization, and project management. Her most recent research combined computational and in vitro methods to study the potential risk posed by monomers, additives, and processing aids added to plastics to reproductive health. Julie was part of the 2019-20 cohort of the Alaska Fellows Program, which partners with local public and non-profit host organizations. Julie completed her fellowship at the University of Alaska Center for Economic Development, where she continued her work post-fellowship, focusing on rural entrepreneurship, community economic development, and data-based communications. Julie has over eight publications, including peer reviewed journal articles, media articles, and community-based research papers spanning topics from machine learning in reproductive toxicology to small business grants in Alaska’s Yukon-Kuskokwim communities.
